- the induction of an electromotive force by the motion of a conductor across a magnetic field or by a change in magnetic flux in a magnetic field.
Production of an electric current (see also current) by changing the magnetic field enclosed by an electrical circuit. The most common use of electromagnetic induction is in the electric generator.
