A part of the epicranial muscle, of which the occipital belly arises from the occipital bone and inserts into the galea aponeurotica, and the frontal belly arises from the galea and inserts into the skin of the eyebrow and nose, with nerve supply from the facial nerve, and whose action moves the scalp.
