Acts xxi:38), “outbreak of disorder, revolt, commotion,” from German auf (Middle Dutch op) “up” + ruhr (Middle Dutch roer) “a stirring, motion,” related to Old English hreran “to move, stir, shake” (see rare (adj.2)).
